ASC

Surfing Australia's principal partner, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) continues to support surfing with a major focus on elite athlete development and programming. The ASC recognises Surfing Australia as the peak body or National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for the sport of surfing. They support our role in the development of international surfing programs and events as well as domestic programs that offer benefits to the wider community.

Vegemite

Vegemite SurfGroms is the first participation program of its type available anywhere in the world and we are thrilled to be the naming rights sponsors. Vegemite is an integral part of Australia’s culture, identity and personality. Similarly, surfing underpins an important part of the Australian way of life.  It forms part of a lifestyle in which millions participate and millions more have a documented interest. Vegemite SurfGroms is a wonderful partnership between two iconic Australian brands. This new program offers youngsters an opportunity to develop ocean awareness and beach safety skills at a very influential period in their lives, whilst also developing a proficiency in surfing that they will enjoy and embrace for a lifetime.

Suncorp

Surfing Australia and Suncorp have launched a new partnership aimed at spreading the SunWise message nationally, specifically targeting Australian surfers and beachgoers. Suncorp SunWise shade tents will be seen at surfing events throughout Australia including the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast and the Australian Junior Surfing Titles in Victoria. Suncorp staff volunteers will also attend each event to distribute free sunscreen to spectators and tips for being SunWise. Suncorp will also support various sporting teams and holiday camps within Surfing Australia to help spread the sun protection message.

VB

The nation’s best cold beer, VB is supporting Surfing Australia at the grass roots level. The partnership guarantees VB the tag as “The Beer” of Surfing Australia for the next three years, along with its state branches (NSW, VIC, TAS and WA). VB will be supporting the grass roots of Australian surfing via the new Surfing Australia “VB Boardriders Club” program and Australia's 2.5 million recreational surfers via the "VB Slab of the Week" promotion. VB is committed to supporting clubs to ensure that the sport of surfing continues to go Adding to the agreement, VB will be offering support sponsorship to the Australian Surfing Festival, comprising of the Australian Longboard, Open Surfmasters and Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Titles, as well as an array of events on the state branch calendars and Australian surfing’s night of nights, the Australian Surfing Awards. The partnership also incorporates VB’s support sponsorship of some of the country’s most iconic events including the Margaret River Prime Pro Surfing event in Western Australia and the Noosa Festival of Surfing in Queensland.

Nikon

As part of a three-year partnership, Nikon is the official camera of Surfing Australia, with world-class surfer Stephanie Gilmore on board as the ambassador for Nikon’s COOLPIX AW100 waterproof, freezeproof and shockproof camera. Stephanie is the face of Nikon Australia’s first locally-produced marketing campaign that builds off the brand’s global ‘I AM’ strategy.  This sees Stephanie sitting alongside international stars such as Jamie Oliver as a Nikon ambassador, with the campaign including a locally-produced TVC, print campaign, online activity and point-of-sale.

Hurley

With an eye to the future, industry leader Hurley is investing in the next generation of Aussie surfing stars by supporting Surfing Australia’s High Performance Centre at Casuarina Beach in northern NSW. It is the world’s first facility dedicated to the development of elite surfers and coaches and will ensure Australia maintains its place as a world leader in the sport. Designed in consultation with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), construction started on the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre (HPC) in October 2011 and is expected to be completed by May 2012. Hurley’s involvement will see that the centre is at the forefront of surfing technology and training, helping evolve the skill-set of long-time surfers and nurturing the youth and surfing leaders of tomorrow.

Quiksilver

Quiksilver designs, produces and distributes clothing, accessories and related products for young-minded people representing a casual lifestyle driven from our boardriding heritage. Quiksilver's authenticity is evident in its innovative products, events and retail environments across the globe. Quiksilver's products are sold throughout the world, primarily in surf shops, skate shops and other specialty stores. Quiksilver is backed by the worlds best athletes including 10x Surfing World Champion Kelly Slater, skateboard innovator Tony Hawk, and progressive back country snowboarder Travis Rice. Quiksilver proudly supports Vegemite SurfGroms in sharing the stoke of surfing and the development of the sports future participants.

Wahu

For over a decade Wahu has been developing and introducing to the marketplace innovative quality water and beach sports products and toys to support the Australian lifestyle. Wahu has been involved with Surfing Australia for the past three years in sponsoring the development of aspiring “super” groms through the annual national Wahu Surfer Groms Comps run in each state. The SurfGroms sponsorship is a further opportunity for Wahu to follow through on its commitment to “Where there is water there is Wahu”. The new SurfGroms program is an integrated extension of the Wahu Surfer Groms Comp but at the foundational level. “Mini” groms are helped to understand the natural elements of the surf with respect and confidence so as to be able to actively participate in the enjoyment and physical development that it can bring through surfing. The use of Wahu products forms an important part of the curriculum design for this program.

Coastalwatch

Coastalwatch is committed to bringing the coast to you. Since its inception in 1998, Coastalwatch has been providing live vision, daily surf reports and forecasts, along with extensive historical swell referencing and engaging editorial; becoming the most comprehensive coastal reference site in Australia. CoastalCOMS - Our Coastal Conditions Monitoring System is now producing some tangible benfits for Coastal NRM and through our establishment of an Office in mainland USA, CoastalCOMS is now active overseas. Using our vast camera network, CoastalCOMS provides vital real-time data on beach erosion, risk and surf quality for councils and governments as well as a safety tool for lifeguard and rescue services. Coastalwatch is a philanthropic community focused commercial organisation that supports community groups and charities.

Telstra is Australia's leading telecommunications and information services company, with one of the best known brands in the country. They offer a full range of services and compete in all telecommunications markets throughout Australia, providing more than 8.3 million Australian fixed line and 12.2 million mobile services.

Illicit Drugs in Sport Program

Illicit drugs can be harmful to athletes and bring sport into disrepute. There are many examples of how drug and alcohol abuse can destroy the careers of successful young athletes. The use of illicit drugs in sport is particularly disappointing because so many young Australians look up to our athletes as role models. Through the Illicit drugs in Sport Program, the Government is supporting National Sporting Organisations to ensure Australian athletes have the education and support to make the right choices when it comes to illicit drugs.

Casuarina Beach

Our relationship with Casuarina Beach continues to grow with the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre firmly positioned in this fantastic facility. This location is one of the world’s most sought after high performance training locations and is the training facility that will take Australian surfers to new heights in international success.

Surfing World Magazine is an Australian legend. Since 1962 we have endeavoured to present and treat surfers, surfing and the ocean with substance, relevance and respect.

Television 4

Surfing Australia has joined forces with free-to-air channel Television 4 Me to broadcast Surfing Australia TV, which will provide a dynamic insight into the work been conducted by the organisation. Managed by Brand New Media, Television 4 Me was launched in regional Australia in September 2011 and two months later began broadcasting nationally including all metropolitan areas to a potential audience of 22 million viewers in more than 8.3 million homes. Surfing Australia TV is a new monthly, half-hour program showcasing the organisation’s many different programs from junior development, through to elite athlete coaching, event management and industry education.

Edith Cowan University

Edith Cowan University (ECU) supports the research undertaken at the Hurley Surfing Australia High Performance Centre. ECU is a large multi-campus institution serving communities in Western Australia and a significant cohort of international students. Awarded university status in 1991, ECU has since developed innovative and practical courses across a wide range of disciplines, established a vibrant research culture and attracted a growing range of quality research partners and researchers, many working at the cutting edge of their fields. ECU has more than 20,000 students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Approximately 4,000 of these are international students originating from over 90 countries.

ISA

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the World Governing Authority for Surfing and all Surfriding activities, including Short Board, Longboard, Bodyboard, Kneeboard, Skimboard, Tow In and Stand Up Paddle surfing. It was originally founded as the International Surfing Federation in 1964 and has been running world championships since 1964 and the Junior World Championships since 1980.
